Brainstorming thumbnails are nice to see. This shows exactly why it's done, choosing the best elements to be combined for the final.

Beautiful prelims!  I always love the view that prelims give us; the excitement and spark of an initial idea, plus the feeling of getting a rare glimpse of an "outtake" from a story (or from an artist) we love.  Great energy here, Miki - a feeling of celebration, warmth, and strength - and a terrific Supergirl!  Nice pick up - congrats!

Man, another sweet looking sert of cover prelims! If I could ever improve my artistic abilities/skills to get to the level of Kitson's cover layouts I'd be fully content. 

Before scrolling down and seeing the published cover, I thought they should've gone with prelim #5. The foreshortened figure is so much more exciting than the one on prelim #6, which is straighforward and boring. As you say, it's a combo of the two, but I'm so glad to see the editor made the right choice for a change. Something that happens far too infrequently!

These Kitson prelims are so interesting. I love the blocked black areas that he uses to convey form.
