This strip is a great example of the timeless humor Walt Kelly often created in Pogo. He is obviously poking fun at the government's inability to balance the budget in 1954; the problem is still with us today more than 70 years after this strip saw print!

I found this one on eBay last year and the seller told me that his father had received this strip from Walt Kelly in response to a fan letter he sent to the Post Hall Syndicate.
