Description

“You are weak, Highlander.  You will always be weaker than I.”

Oooh, one of my fave fictional villains ever, the Kurgan.  A quintessential bad guy – gotta love it.  And his design when you first see him in the film, on his horse, about to slay McLeod in his Scotland Highlands…so good.

Saw McKone did his rendition and that was it, lol.  I’m gettin' it.  Flipped through his portfolio at last Heroes Con and it was this and the Poison Ivy I posted a few days ago.

Definitely lookin’ dark but also majestic.  Check that large skull as the shoulder armor with the chainmail beneath.  And the hair.  An imposing figure this dude cuts.  Bravo, Mike.  And Clancy Brown!  Great actor, great look, great voice.  That voice has contributed to many an animated property as well.

“I have something to say!  It’s better to burn out, than to fade away!”

Kurgan is definitely one of the best villains ever! Great looking piece. I love everything about it, especially the color choices.

Ooh, that's not a bad idea...maybe request a MacLeod vs Kurgan commish?!  OK, ti's gonna happen.

Very cool you got those swords, Tom, I'm sure they look great in person.  And we'll see about the upcomcing film.  I'm....cautiously optimistic :)

Thanks, man, and all, for the comments!

This guy appeared in that Christopher Lambert movie? I admit I only saw it once during the 80's, but I have no recollection whatsoever of a character this cool looking appearing in that movie. Anyway, McKone did his usual bang up job in it. Beautiful texture and color! Is it possible he's Native American? Kind of has that look!

I think it's a tie between Clancy Brown and J.K. Simmons for most versatile actor working today. Simmons got his Academy Award for "Whiplash."  Brown got robbed of even an Oscar nomination for "Highlander."  Hopefully Brown can take some solace in that McKone did this awesome depiction of him.

Right!  And didn't you just love to hate Clancy on Shawshank?!  And yes, my friend, solace hath been taken :)  Thanks for the add!

It's a Highland magic
It's a Highland magic
A kind of magic (No way)

One dream, one soul
One prize, McKone
One Kurgan chance of that's Clancy
It's a kind of magic

One stretch of light that shows the face
No mortal man can win and slay
He's a kind of magic

The spell that rings inside your mind
Is challenging colors and line
It's a kind of magic

Like you pointed out, I like the contrast between the calm face and the aggressive armor? Mckone's colors are even darker than his usual. Very nice.

That's a great, haughty villainous face. Nicely done. By the way, how many of these illos do you have? Go on, say it. Say the line!

Very cool - I dig these pieces by McKone, his style is well established. Very portrait-esque. Nice man!

Storm clouds.  That's what I think of when I see this one: a swelling elemental mass of building fury that can only mean trouble.  McKone dials in those watercolors again to give us a beautiful display of potential energy: uncertain, tentative, restless calm before a frightening, inevitable storm.  Beautiful work - congrats, K!
