Alan Davis' Excalibur run is one of those foundational experiences that turned me from a casual kid who read comics into a passionate fan of the medium. As I've gotten older, I've had the privelege of being able to afford Alan's artwork, but it's fair to say that any Davis art collector's collection isn't complete until you have something from Excalibur. 

But among all the issues of Excalibur, it's the Special Edition that means the most to me. For some reason that wonderful combination of these great UK-based mutants going up against the Technet hit me just right. I must have read this issue 100 times as a kid. For me, it's perfect comics. So when this page came up for auction at Heritage recently, I knew it had to come home. And now it has.
