I love Alcala's brushwork in the Filipino war stories. He gives the figures in this page weight and energy, even when they're standing still. He captures the battle damage perforating HMS Chester's skin. Having HMS Invincible's name plate next to a resolute Admiral Hood sets up the action for the next page and helps readers follow a story filled with the names of warships.

Historical note: Although the scout cruiser Chester survived the battle, Admiral Hood and his flagship battlecruiser Invincible weren't so fortunate. Two German battlecruisers hit its gun magazines amidships, exploding the ammunition and sinking the ship with the loss of nearly all hands including Admiral Hood. Only six of the 1,032-man crew survived.
