Happy 1,000!
Thank you Brother Rick; hopefully it won't take me over 20 years to get to post # 2,000!!
What an incredibly personal relationship you have formed with the legend Mr. Byrne. Very special indeed.
So glad that my John Byrne examples came from you years ago Jim. You made it more than simply an art purchase.
Thank you for the comment Lee; I am truly blessed to have known JB for 35+ years and to become true friends with him; it is so much more special than simply selling his artwork!
Thank you as well as the kind words regarding your JB art purchase from me; please let me know if you are looking for any other comic art examples by JB or other artists.
Wow, there is nothing cooler than artwork where almost all its value has nothing to do with money! OK, one thing cooler--being immortalized by Byrne in a comic, biggest congrats!!
Thank you, as always, for the comment Joe! You are absolutely right about this piece being so cool for non-monetary reasons! I am still floored by the revelation that my daughter Michelle was immortalized in a JB comic!
Special piece and story - thanks for sharing! Michelin Man's transformation to Stay Puft in Ghostbusters has made that brand mascot even more iconic and memorable over time as well. A great way to commemorate 1k CAF posts, congrats.
Thank you so much for the comment Kavi; I had completely forgotten about the Michelin Man transformation in Ghostbusters!
Please know what a pleasure it is to receive and read your always kind and insightful comments!
This is really nice!
I loved it when you told me this story and was waiting for you to post this. Not sure how I missed it. Not sure how old this book is, but I'm assuming John did this from memory since it's probably been a while since Michelle looked like this. I guess the obvious question is, when are YOU going to appear on a Byrne comic page? Anyway, can't wait to see it framed. And better than taking a photo of it hanging on the wall, it would be great to see the current Michelle holding it or at least standing next to it. Awesome page and awesome story.
JBNM # 38 was published in 2011, so JB probably drew this page in 2010, which would make Michelle 17 years old at the time. It's possible that Michelle was the only person he knew then who fit the age of the character he was portraying!
Thank you for the nudge about posting a photo of Michelle with the artwork; I added a couple of pictures to the additional images this evening! :)
