What did the five fingers holding a giant sword say to the face?

It might be difficult (not to mention frustrating) to argue who John's best inker was on Conan.  The smart answer would probably be to say it was John himself.  But I think Ernie wins just based on sheer volume.  Still, even an inking machine like Ernie couldn't possibly do everything.  So that left plenty of opportunities for other equally gifted embellishers.  This is a wonderful example of an alternate combo.  Buscema and the legendary Rudy Nebres.  Congrats on this gem of a page.

I LOVE love Rudy's unique inking style, so cool over JB. Great pickup Rick!

It's generally a bad idea to start a fight with the shirtless guy at the bar.

"Take him lads!" Is about as wimpy of a rallying cry as getting some frat boys to take on a street gang.

Congratulations on a terrifc action packed page!  The lush Nebres inks look great; it's cool to see someone other than Chan or Alcala inking JB on Conan (not that there is anything wrong with their inks)!

Rudy's inks really transform the art here. Gives it a crispness. Really great action too!

Buscema always gets his due admiration but Nebres is every bit a master as well.  This masterpiece shows just how amazing each are.

Pretty sure I like Nebres over Buscema more than almost any other inker other than Tom Palmer.

Savage page from theses superb classic Barbarian artists (although Rudy's superb inks almost dominated any artist, even Big John's mighty pencils..). by Crom!

-GORGEOUS- rendering!  Wow - Nebres is no joke, is he?  Absolutely sensational page, Rick.  I keep bouncing from panel to panel and thinking, "oh, no - THAT one's my favorite", and it's _usually_ panel two...?  But then I look at the feathering on Conan's hair in panel 3 and that's my favorite...?  But then there's the big action panel 5, and that pretty undeniable (plus, it has "OONNNGH" going for it...).  So then I have to go to the top and start through again, delighting in each stop.  It took me three times through to realize that I didn't -have- to choose a favorite panel, that I can just delight in the entire page, and boy, do I.  This is insanely fantastic.  Amazing pick up, Rick!  Huge congrats!

Awesome Conan page by the master of swords and sorcery, as well as pen and ink! John Buscema was one of Marvel's very best artists. His contributions to the exploits of Conan were innumerable. This page is a beautiful example of his artistic skill. I love the opening panel with the cool closeup of Conan's face. And the four following panels depicting Conan's battle are a master class in how to draw a swordfight. An excellent example of John's great talent.
