Garfield Daily - 3/28/1983

I enjoyed reading the Garfield newspaper strip in the Washington Post when I was growing up and my parents were subscribers.  Once I was married and Lynn and I bought our first home we also subscribed to the Post and I continued reading the strip for several more years. 

When I expanded my comic related art collecting, I started collecting a few newspaper strip originals and focused on getting an example of my favorite strips that I remembered reading.  Garfield was one of these strips and I just wanted to get a single example that had a nice image of Garfield and a cute gag; having Odie on it would be a bonus.

When Heritage started releasing the Garfield strips for auction I bid on some of their first offerings and was always outbid.  Thankfully for me, the prices fell once they had been auctioning the Garfield strips for a while.  When this strip came up for bids, I went for it pretty hard as it had a classic (in my eyes) image of Garfield in the middle panel and it also had Odie.  The kicker (literally) was that it had a gag I really enjoyed as I used to be a true hater of Monday's when I was working!  This one checked all of the boxes for me and I am very happy to have it in my collection!
