Description

Hulk encounters Klaatu (the accursed energy-eater from the stars), nearly draining him of his lifeforce, as he passes through the Crossroads seeking his next world(s) to consume. The Crossroads story was a ton of fun and so visually appealing. Sal Buscema and Gerry Talaoc worked so well together stylistically during this story arc. I love the even more brutish and monstrous Hulk visualization that they combined to illustrate during this part of the Hulk series. Always happy to add another Sal Buscema Hulk page to the collection!

I love this period of Hulk with the Talaoc inks. Don't tell Chan or Sinnott.

Thanks SDV! Mum's the word. Sinnott (and Staton) were likely my fovorite inkers that stayed the most true to Sal's lines, but I also have a very strong affection for some of the artists that added their own flair and syle ... Talaoc, Chan, Alcala (Chan being my favorite of this group).

Sal had some powerhouse inkers!!! Excellent page man. Not sure why I enjoy it so much but Hulk depleted of energy and having to overcome that really appeals to me story wise. Also we know you won't spill the tea to Ernie, Joe, or Alfredo - your powers as a "medium" have been greatly exaggerated (or perhaps under exaggerated, hmm). Sal's up there now giving them all fresh pencils to work with. :)

Thanks TD! There are so many inkers that looked great on Sal's pencils and Klaus is another fantastic example (in my top list for sure). I get the feeling that artists enjoyed working over Sal's pencils (Klaus told me as much at OAX25). Thanks again!

We're not indestructible
Gerry better ink that page
I think Hulk's Incredible
Klatuu gives into the hands of fate
Sal things are worth fighting for
Some feelings never die
I'm not crossing for another chance
Sal Buscema’s road’s wide

There's no easy way out
There goes mammoth Hulk
There's no easy way out
Giving ink Talaoc
