Congrats on landing this early Mignola page, Ian. I love the stark black backgrounds, as they give the page a much stronger eye appeal. I remember loving Gideon when I was 12 and read Hulk #271 as the first Hulk comic I ever read, only 4 weeks old at the time and led right into Hulk #272, my Holy Grail!
Interesting enough the CMRO doesn't mention 272 as a Rocket Raccoon issue in his reading order, but I ended up opening this issue since you mentioned your love for it and found him in there. Had to readjust my descrpition a bit, but thanks for the kind words Rubén. It was fun getting a chance at a page from this issue.
Her name was Lylla, she's stuck in Halfworld
With Marvel fellers in her hair and Rocket cut down from here
She would merengue as would Mignola
And while she tried to be a star
Loonies always tended bar
Across the crowded door, they worked convention floor
They were young and they had each otter

nice buddy, i got this mini new off stands and loved it, great classic piece
Sweet early Mignola example!
Fantastic page, Ian! Wow - adding an early Mignola example is always something worthy of crowing about, but adding a piece that also factors heavily into the early history of a character you love is really, really, REALLY special! This way you can see the evolution of both, right? :) The last two panels especially, with their black backgrounds and cool staging, really feel like a preview of what's to come, right? Awesome pick up, Ian! Huge congrats!
Happy to see this arrive in your Rocket Racoon / early GoTg history and appearances sub-collection, congrats on the published Mignola page! I really dig the Al Gordon inking on this one too.
Nice 1st issue page. And great job by Gordon on the blacks.
Great use of blacks! Panorama panels make for a great introduction and end of the sequence! Uncle Pyko is a loathsome creature in looks and deeds!
Nice I really enjoyed this book so much it's awesome seeing Mike's early work. Major congrats!
Amazing get!! Any page from this mini is a holy grail for rocket raccoon fans!
If you ask me, mike mignolas work in this series still holds up as marvel cosmic greatness.
A perfect Mignola page that fits in your collection! Great pick up!
