Guardians of the Galaxy (Vol. 2) Issue #25 was released on April 21, 2010. This issue is an important milestone for the series because it serves as both the conclusion to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and the foundation for the Thanos Imperative. This page is the second half of a two-page Groot vs. Thanos fight scene. Sadly, Groot did not come out victorious in the end, but at least Rocket Raccoon thought he might have had Thanos on the ropes.

This page has a unique layout with a vertical semi-splash breaking through stacked panels. The shadowed inks on Groot’s head are perfect for this moment since his lights went out just enough to interrupt his dialogue. “Groot am… ow”.

Although this page features some of my favorite characters, it still brings heavy emotions to my heart watching Groot being taken out.
