I can clearly see why you were so taken with the art quality and inking that you had to buy this even without knowing anything about the story. The illustration quality is tremendous. It sounds like an interesting read too based on that excerpt/summary. And you got to meet the artist at an overseas show on your travels makes it even better!

I don't know where to start - with the glorious artwork or the multiple name checks! Well, I love the art, obviously. David has done a tremendous job with the delicate inks, the range of hatching techniques on the faces, and the moody backgrounds. The composition of the fourth panel is superb, and there's much channeling of Spanish artists throughout. Thanks Miki for the 'super comic art collector' title and to Marcus for the song lyric name check!

Great pickup. First appearance of the hoodie or as the people from Saskatchewan call them, bunny hugs.

I once told David that if he could land a gig on a book like X-Men, Wolverine, Spidey or similar top selling book, he'd likely become the longest tenured "overnight sensation" in comics history. He is so otherworldly good, it is a stain on modern day comics editors that they probably don't even know he exists, much less hand him job offers on any books, much less those top sellers. Outstanding craftsmanship!

Some seriously hefty rendering here by Mr. Roach - beautiful work.  Sensational textures and detail in the backgrounds (the stone walls and brick work is astonishing!), but boy, oh, boy: that last panel is off-the-hook brilliant.  Amazing display of both emotion and emotional state thanks to the insane brushwork, spatter, and paint streaks.  Incredible page, Miki - wow...
