Mike Grell - Jon Sable Freelance: Bloodtrail - issue 3 pg 1 (2005)

I have long sought original art by Mike Grell, one of my favorite artists. He drew some of my most favorite characters/titles, including Green Lantern, Legion of Super Heroes, Warlord and more. Basically, everything Mike Grell drew became a must-buy title for me, then a favorite comic. I even bought his Jon Sable novel.

Over the quarter century plus I've indulged in collecting original art, I've never acquired any Grell artwork. I have a couple of pages he wrote. I have a couple of pages of his characters he created, but drawn by other artists. But the stars never aligned for me to get a Grell page ... until this one. And I am 100% thrilled to have it.

I love the angle of the first panel. The positioning of the sniper sort of between panels, with the brickwork of the building flowing between the panels below is the sort of creative work that makes Grell an all-time great.

Thank you Art Gods! Hopefully you won't make me wait another 27 years to get another one.
