This was a fun story, one of the first X-Men issues I read. Also a harbinger of how Claremont, seeing the reader response to UXM 137, would keep returning to the Phoenix well for the rest of his career.
Cockrum loved swashbuckling, so this story was right up his alley. See also the Starmjammers and the "Nightcrawler as a pirate" mini-series.
