I cannot describe the way I feel when I see this scene at the end of American Tail. I am not exaggerating when I say I cry EVERY TIME at this scene. Tolkien coined a word called Eucatastrophe, where at the 11th hour (where all seems hopeless and bleak), something unexpectedly and vehemently overturns and reverses the momentum toward one of unbelievable hope and joy. This is that scene. Fievel, the boy found at last by his papa.

Reminds me of the story of the prodigal son that Jesus told us. When the rebellious boy returned, his father (who was ever looking to the horizon for his son) ran to meet him, cut off the boy's apology mid sentence by embracing and kissing him. He celebrated his return.

John absolutely crushed it with this piece. So much lose movement captured with the water and the gesture of the mice. Beautiful work. Thank you John for this treasure.
