The first comic I remember buying off the rack was Wolverine 17. After church we'd stop at the corner store for the Sunday paper and eggs or milk or something. I had some gi Joe comics I'd bought in a 3pack at a pharmacy. But this was different. I didn't know anything about the character but that cover had me! The inside was great too and definitely set me on my path. I'd love a page from this issue but I doubt that will ever happen. Meanwhile what excites me today are new creators that know how to make interesting and fun stories. I can't talk enough about Mahdi's work and how exciting and fun they are to read. I love sharing his work and it always gets positive responses from those I show it too. Having him recreate the cover is a perfect blend of what made me fall in love with comics with what's keeping my love of comics.
