Stingray by Ryan Quackenbush

Ed Harris has been talking up the talents of Ryan Quackenbush to me for months and it turned out that Ryan was going to HeroesCon this year! I got to stop by Ryan's table and check out some awesome movie poster type art he had created; really beutiful work! While Iw as there, Ed asked Ryan if he had anything he'd like to show me. This prompted Ryan to turn to the back of a portfolio from which he pulled this amazing Stingray commission that was then given to me. Ed claims this was all Ryan's doing, but Ed is a wiley one. I know who was behind this.

This piece is beyond cool. Such a graphic sensibility with a variety of textures and collaged elements. The seafoam at the bottom is even separate piece of board that has been cut out and affixed to the main board. It is raised and gives a 3D quality to the bottom portion of the image. Stingray is translucent and ethereal; looks like he is leaping into or out of the 'Take On Me' video.
