Hristov, Todor - Black Canary unwinding after a job (11x17) (2026)

The idea was something kind of like the spy-fi/crime noir paperback book covers in the 50s and 60s . There was usually a sexy woman and a hint of violence on the cover, and maybe a dead body. Two out of three ain't bad. 

I saw a watercolor painting Todor did from about ten years ago of Black Canary just relaxing in a chair. It looked great, just a hero on her down time. I wanted the commission to lean into Black Canary's spy history a little. Something like Bond unwinding at his flat after he finished an assignment, which probably included shooting someone or several someones. As Todor put it, a "Robert McGinnis feel to it."

I also have a Black Canary painting by Scott Hampton that fits this same theme. Don't know if that was a commission of just something Scott thought of to paint but it looks pretty cool.
