Description

I've been trying to cut back this year but a friend on the CGC forums contacted me about a couple of Rom pages he'd acquired and was welling to sell for an impossible-to-pass-on price.  I restrained myself to buying only one of them and pointing him to another Rom fan who I was sure would love the other.

I have tried to focus my Rom collection on pivotal moments in the series and pages that contain some of the major supporting cast. Terminator is one of those characters who was pivotal in the direction of the series and Mantlo instilled him with Arthurian level tragedy, as he had a unique origin among the Spaceknights. The "Tales of the Spaceknights" back up stories, of which this page was a part, reflected the SpaceKNIGHT element, an alien round table with a flawed knight (a la Lancelot, Roland, etc.). I'm a sucker for it.

Also a bit of a recap of the beginning of the Spaceknights, I believe the first time the meaning of Rom's name was detailed, an appearance of Starshine (somehwhat bloodthirsty too - maybe an echo of her rage is what "corrupted" Brandy Clark when she later took on the armor), as well as the Prime Director of Galador.

There's also a panel that replaced (the original art is actually on the back - the text box at the bottom was added) - personally I love seeing the production process at work prior to being able to edit things digitally.

Not to throw shade on the colored art, but I really think the detail of the original art is actually obsucred or muddied a bit by the colors when comparing the published version.

Thanks to the great guy who offered this to me, so happy to add this to my collection!

Really great page!  You can feel the emotion of the page even though ROM's face design is supposed to be emotionless.

What a great page with some fantastic ROM images and to me that center horizontally panel really stands out. Even when trying to cut back this hobby offers plenty of temptation and opportunities out of nowhere sometimes., a great page at a great price from a fellow collector is the ideal way to make an exception! Congrats.
