Stumbled on this page at Anthony’s while I was trying to put together a bundle deal. It’s easy to overlook at first, until you remember that the clown on the page is actually Jonah Hex in disguise.

On top of Jonah being in disguise, we get the odd last panel of Emmylou trapped in the well — and Lassie nowhere to be found. Morrow also used some of his trademark Zip-A-Tone on this one.

Emmylou does get rescued in the next issue, which also happens to be the last issue of the original run, but Jonah Hex has absolutely nothing to do with her rescue.

As for Hex breaking the mirror, what do you think? Is it because he hates seeing himself in that humiliating clown outfit, or is it just Hex generally not liking what he sees when he looks at himself? Maybe he somehow knows this is the next-to-last issue before the embarrassing launch into the future.

I still can’t believe someone approved that garbage.
