The Walking Dead #122, pg 22 - 2/3 Splash of Negan & Lucille (Image, 2014)

This 2/3 splash shows Negan, Dwight and other Saviors from behind as they look across at Hilltop. Negan carries a bloodied, mucked up Lucille seen in silhouette. The Walking Dead routinely ended on cliffhanger splash pages in order to create that hook for the next issue and his one's no exception. Fantastic writing during the All Out War arc where Rick and his army is planning for the final battle on the preceding pages, hoping they have at least another day to put everything in motion, followed by this page with Negan commanding they will attack at sundown. It's easy to be picky about the example, but try to find another Negan/Lucille page let alone a splashy/end page.

Issue 115-192 TWD interior pgs have pencils and inked bluelines on separate boards. The nice caveat is they are on larger 11x17" boards unlike the smaller 8.5"x14" boards Adlard used from issues 36-114. Gaudiano also enlarged his inked pages closer to the page edges making his inked blueline pages the largest of the interior TWD art available. Negan pages need his dialogue- that's what makes him such an endearing character. So I created an overlay to display the word balloon for the inked page that is framed on my wall while the penciled page is tucked away in a portfolio.
