Did this stone lithograph print back in college. Found some of the prints recently in nice shape. Have no idea what to ask. Will take them to shows I suppose if I start doing more now that my back SHOULD be better. Had surgery 7 weeks ago.
#1 out of 13. 14.5" x 17.5." Have others of it. This print run they got darker as I pulled more prints. This looks most like what I drew on the stone in grease pencil. Sometimes they would hold up for all 12 or so. Some would start breaking down sooner and you lose the finer lighter shading.
You drew the image on what looks like a tombstone with grease pencil sort of and then etch it with an acid solution. You roll ink on and pull one print at a time on what looked like a Ben Franklin kind of press. I did Satan for a fanzine cover (RADION #5) and re-drew him and added the background stuff for the print. Also have the pencil guide version which I like best!
Would hand color the ones I turned in to be graded. I can't visualize how that looked now. My instructor kept them. No phones with cameras back in the late 70's and didn't think to take photos of any (was taking a photography class one semester). Didn't buy an SLR camera till after college. Never tried selling these before. Have never taken any to a comic show.
