This piece is a departure from how I usually work. After talking with Brian Stelfreeze at recent conventions, he challenged me to try using watercolor washes over under paintings of the character. This was flying without a safety net for me but a lot of fun still the same. Brian has been a huge mentor in my portrait paintings in recent years, spending hours with me at shows sharing his years of knowledge. I greatly appreciate his generosity of shaing his time and experience. Mixed media on 9x12" watercolor paper.

Nice work Rich! Without even having read your description I could sense the Stelfreeze influence purely from the visual, pretty awesome to be learning from an artist of his caliber!

Thanks Ruben! I tend to pick up things quickly, and this was a learning process. While working on it I was reminded of Basil Gogos Monster Magazine covers that had similar color schemes.
