Tom Taylor and Bruno Redondo were already well on their way to winning awards from the nine previous issues of Nightwing Volume 4, but this issue guaranteed it - hitting comic shops just a few days before Christmas 2021, with a cover date of February 2022. 

The three preceding issues tied into the Fear State multibook crossover. Tie-in books are generally a massive inconvenience for a regular writing team, so getting back into solo continuity allowed the team of Taylor & Redondo to get creative for Dick's Bludhaven homecoming.  Using the cover of issue 83 as precurser, 87 starts on Cover A and spans the entire comic as a single backdrop, turning the pages of the comic book into a 13-foot wide, continuous, single image of polymorphic reduplication. Storywise, it's Dick rushing home to save his three-legged dog.

That entire issue was sold to a single buyer, but Bruno also created a 1:25 ratio variant, which is what you see here. The image is the style guide for the new Nightwing costume that would debut in the following month's Nightwing 88.

This unique digital proof was created with an artist-supervised digital silk screen process that of archival inks on high quality art board that has the texture and depth of a handmade drawing. It's signed verso and on the C.o.A. from Black Diamond Comic Art.
