Moore - Bissette - Totleben Swamp Thing #23 p1 (1983)

Moore really wrote these early issues as if he had something to prove. B & T did the same on the art front. A magical run. 

Moore's powerful and poetic dialogue matched with the Bissette Totleben imagery make for a memorable opener. How could you not be hooked from the get go! Great page and have a blast at SDCC.

Wow this is such an amazing page; I almost didn't see swampy for a second  as I was so captivated by the detail. Then as the perspective shifts to reveal the full scene all I could think was "genius". This run has had a similar impact on me as it did to you from what I can interpret from the description. Major congrats on acquiring another amazing page!

could also have been a cut scene from James & The Giant Peach stop motion film!

It was sophisticated suspense and the team went about it in an adult manner treating the audience to literature brought to comics.  The mood setting is tremendously done in one page.

Tom, I envy you for this page. It gives me the creeps in the most beautiful way possible. The way Moore, Bissette and Totleben incorporated environmental commentary with existential horror here was, at the time, mind-blowing and without compare. Cheers!
