Description

Gene Colan and Tom Palmer's Tomb of Dracula #68 page 16 Original Art (Marvel, 1979). Dracula sinks to one of his most unnerving lows on this page from "The Return to... Transylvania!", confessing his shame before what appears to be the wheelchair-bound Quincy Harker -- a man he once would have regarded as frail prey. Stripped of his dark majesty, the Lord of Vampires bitterly recoils at the thought of being undone by someone so seemingly powerless, then commits an even greater act of defiance by renouncing Satan himself. The horror sharpens on the following page, when "Harker" is revealed as the Devil in borrowed flesh, savoring Dracula's humiliation before sealing him back into the vampiric curse he cannot escape. Ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 10" x 15". Slight toning, minor production oil staining, blue pencil editorial marks, smudging, whiteout corrections, marginal abrasion and story notes, screentone, production-trimmed edges/corners, and light handling wear. In Very Good condition.
