Description

11 x 17 page from Doctor Strange: Fall Sunrise #1, published in 2022 by Marvel Comics.

I didn't expect to acquire another page from Tradd Moore's Doctor Strange: Fall Sunrise book, but here we are. I first remember seeing this page during Felix's Tradd Moore livestream unveiling the original art to the first issue of DS:FS prior to the drop. This page stood out at the time for many of the qualities that distinguish Moore's artwork: the fluidity of his line and the unorthodox layouts (particularly in the bottom half of the page). I didn't pursue it at the original drop because of other priorities at the time, but I always hoped this page and a couple of others would find their way to me at some point.

I subsequently acquired a page from the second issue of DS:FS shortly after the first drop. I'll double down on what I said about that page at the time because I think it applies to this newest page and many others: "Fall Sunrise contains some of Moore’s strongest art to date from beginning to end. What’s often lost in the conversation about the price or long term value of his pages is the value in seeing an artist evolve and improve with each new project. In Fall Sunrise, Moore visualizes the story in ways that are delightful and unexpected even if you’ve read his previous work."

While I'm a fan of Moore's work on Silver Surfer: Black, his work on Fall Sunrise stands out as a better synthesis of art and story and marks Moore's emergence as a complete storyteller. Readers will get to see Moore stretch his abilities as a storyteller in his new book Touch Me Someplace Nowhere, arriving in 2027 from Oni Press.

In short, I'm thrilled to have this page and also a little astounded that it made its way to me so quickly following the auction!

Astounding, and congrats! This page was on my shortlist at the Issue 1 drop too - it's everything Tradd does, and it's glorious.

When I get to the bottom, I go back to the top of the slide
Where I stop, and I turn, and I go for a ride
'Till I get to the bottom, and I see you again
Yeah, yeah, yeah!

Outstanding page!  The lines, shapes, and design are so good.  I've never seen anything else like this book

It's like a puzzle that has a burst of creative energy that finally settles down where every pattern and texture fits into place!  A Tradd triumph and a feast for the eyes!

Congrats on bringing this one home Mark! Great Tradd page!  An excellent page from the first Doctor Strange issue, I love that bottom tier of layered imagery - the color work in the published enhanced everything even further on this book for my eyes as well.

This is a sheer tour of design and what an artist can do in black and white.  He has taken art deco so far into the future.  The infinity box pattern for the lower half is a nice touch.  The heavy design in the top panel offset by the negative space of the last horizontal panel.  Congrats!

Great example! I love the storytelling from panel to panel from a super cool moment in Issue 1.

Another great one, especially panels 2 & 4.

While I confess prefering his earliest work (circa Venom 150), he is a voice I'll follow on any project.
