GI Joe A Real American Hero 102 Cover (1990)

The 90s was such a cool era. Who would have thought the Russians (as it is herein the Oktober Guard) would be the good guys after Reagan proclaimed them the evil empire.  I remember reading this issue, admiring Lady Jaye, as always, interact with the Russians. 

Lee Weeks was such an important artist to me then. He did a lot of cool covers for GI Joe. I remember how nice he was when I met him at NYCC. We loved talking about the Red Sox and life in general. He was nice enough to tell me then that he would check at home if he had anymore GI Joe artwork.. I never purchased any GI Joe art from Lee, but he did later on sell me a Batman cover.

This beautiful piece was recently auctioned at Heritage, and I never expected to win it, but somehow I did, and here we are.
