This two pager shows a cowboy bulldogging. This was a real thing that cow herders did to get the cow down to brand them or work on them. This is dangerous as hell. The odd part is the comment shows the other cowboy's jealosy over not being able to bulldog. He calls it a sport. So what are we talking about? Are we talking about the day to day skills and trials of being a cowboy or are we talking about some one competing at a rodea? A rodeo used to be a way to show off the skills of the cowboys and it turned from boast to entertainment to sport. But what are we seeing here? Is this a work day or a day of beer drinking and gamnbling? This probably was a fun page to color. Action is always more fun then coloring a person filling in the stats for the day. But already we can see a problem with this coloring book, and all western coloring books. They are limited in their color pallette. There might be a red bandana or gold trim on the boots, but overarching color is brown. Tan. Is there a Craola crayon called "windswept desolation?" What are you to do if all you have are brown arroyos and reddish brown gullies? What are we to do with all the other colors waiting for their turn? Should you go rogue? Should you draw some color never seen on the plains. I mean you can have a blue sky, but there are many days out on the range where the sky is as brown and muddy as the sand below.
