Thomas, Martin - The Question!

I first met Martin Thomas at the con where I met Steve Rude in 1986. I was really intrigued by his work with color markers and airbrush, but never thought to commission something until a Houston comic convention in 1987. As I've mentioned elsewhere, I'm a big fan of The Question, and I'd just Martin seen color a sketch of The Spirit for someone that was really amazing, so I thought I'd do something along those lines and I drew the Question illo you see here - yep, my pencils and inks on that baby. I think I was still inking with a pen at this point, and it shows in the total lack of character the linework has. Blech! Martin got to work with his Berol Prismacolor markers and my first artistic collaboration was born! Shame when the colors are so much better than the pencils...
