Description"Flapper Filosophy" was a one-panel gag cartoon that ran from at least the 1920's and slightly into the 1930's. A flapper was a girl who bobbed her hair (wore it chin length or shorter) wore skirts above her knees and generally tried to be the opposite of the Gibson Girl of the generation before. Faith Burrows used this in her strip. Unfortunately for the strip, the idea of the flapper became passe very quickly after the stock market crash of October 1929. Notice that the cutie here has hair to her shoulders and a dress that must go down to her ankles. She's a flapper like Shania Twain is a punk rocker. She is, however, a very nice delicate example of a lady from the early 1930's.I don't know what the gag was supposed to go with this image, something about putting off paying bills, I would guess.
