Pitt, Stanley - Secret Agent Corrigan - 1972-05-02

PITT, JOHN STANLEY [1925-2002] Possibly Australia 's greatest comic art superstar. He ghosted Secret Agent Corrigan for Al Williamson from 6-16-69 to 8-30-69, and then again for one month in 1972. It was during this latter period that this strip was drawn -- and it is my favourite daily strip of all those he did for Corrigan, and just a nice example of his work in general. Pitt's SILVER STARR 1949-52/56-58, was almost entirely an homage to Alex Raymond's FLASH GORDON, and so his affinity to Al Williamson was natural (although Pitt picked more of Raymond's slick inking style than did Williamson). By happenstance for Pitt, Williamson's character Dr. Valerion was a ringer for Raymond's Dr. Zarkov. Purchased directly from Al Williamson with the kind packaging of his wife Cori.
