Back in `98 or 99 Tom Derenick seemingly came out of nowhere and started auctioning off several pieces of art every week on ebay. His work garnered him quite a following and most of his pieces went for very healthy prices. He attracted enough attention to himself that Wizard Magazine did an article on his ebay auctions. Soon after, he started getting regular comic book assignments from DC and Marvel Comics including some X-Men work. As an artist that also sold occassionally on ebay, I always thought it was fantastic that a relatively unknown artist could do so well on ebay, and then use that success to propel him to a career in comics. The majority of Tom's ebay art was pencil tone renderings of sexy female comic book characters - quite nice. His women always have a cold sensuality about them. I only recall seeing two color pieces by him including this one. This is probably my favorite piece that I have seen from Tom, so I'm very glad to have it. It's oil paint on 12"x16" canvas board.

Nice. I don't see enough of Tom's art, and this is the first painted one I've seen
