Description
This book based on the first sequel to the very successful Silly Syphony, The Three Little Pigs, was published by Blue Ribbon Books of New York in 1934. Not only did the Disney Studio license the publication, it also supplied the artwork for the illustrations, all of which were by Tom Wood. Unlike the Blue Ribbon book based on the Three Little Pigs itself, which was first published in 1933 but which was kept in print for many years, the Big Bad Wolf book was almost certainly only published in one edition. That fact, plus the high retail price of the book ($1.00 -- quite a lot of money for a childrens' book during the Great Depression) makes this book one of the rarest of all Disney books from the 1930s. This copy still has the original dust jacket, which itself is in pretty good condition, making it even more rare. I bought it from my good friend, John Koukoutsakis, when he was still operating his store, Fredonia Funnyworks. John, unlike most comic dealers, has the knowledge which is rare but necessary for the discovery of such hard to find comic memorabilia; most comic dealers probably would not have given a book such as this a second glance.
