This page is from Batman : Dark Detective, the last Batman collaboration between Team Rogers/Austin/Englehart and it's as tight as ever. A friend really encouraged me to get this, recounting how important Rogers was in getting the Dark Knight back on track in the seventies. (All of this is explored in vivid detail in Comic Book Artist Collection, Vol 2.) I recently heard a radio interview with Austin and Englehart that was done just a couple of weeks after Rogers passed away. Describing the meetings that they had, Austin and Engelhart talked about how Marshall would go in to detail figuring out how the cowl would set on Batman's head in 'real life,' how tall the ears would be etc. - how it would all have to physically work to be practical - and then he would draw the Batman.

That story sealed the deal. My happiness will be complete when this page is framed and on the wall.
