3 BOY WITH SHRIMP BASKET 1836

William Henry Hunt, Boy with Shrimp Basket (1836)
One of the first pictures with a different, non-Swain, boy model. I always call him the "good looking" boy, in contrast to John Swain, who isn't.
This watercolor is dated 1836, which provides evidence of when Hunt was using this boy as a model. It was undoubtedly painted in Hastings, England, since Hunt was known to paint only what he would actually observe, i.e., he would not use his imagination to paint a beach in the background while painting the boy in his studio, as was very commonly done by many 19th century artists.
