DescriptionA beuatiful drawing from 1987. John was just into his run as artist for the Miracleman comic, and Miraclewoman had not yet appeared in print. When I asked about her, he volunteered what he could without giving away too much of the game. I knew I had to ask John for this drawing, and he was good enough to comply. What I like about this character, apart from her obvious retro look, was that John and writer Alan Moore gave us a superheroine that thought before acting. She handled a problem using her brains, and not falling into the "Hulk Smash" business like her male counterpart. Social/Sharing |

I also had the great fortune to meet Mr. Totleben when he was still on Swamp Thing and never have I met a more gracious artist. His version of Miraclewoman, with its touches of Virgil Finlay, was one of the true highlights of his run on Miracleman. The sketch he did for you is fabulous and the fact that this was done before she appeared in the comic makes it even more special.
