Lark, Michael - The Phantom!

You'd think that for such a big fan of Gotham Central, I wouldn't hesitate to ask Michael Lark to draw Batman or Catwoman for me. When I went to the Dallas ComicCon, I decided I'd go a different route... I figured he must get sick of almost every sketch he gets asked to do be of the Bat. He told me otherwise, but was intrigued when I suggested The-Ghost-Who-Walks, The Phantom. I used to read The Phantom all the time in the paper with my grandfather when I was little, so he's always been a nostalgiac favorite of mine, and I had this feeling that Lark's style would go great with the character. After providing him with some costume reference, I was *not* disappointed - it came out even better than I expected. I'm half-tempted to arrange a commission with him to add a background to it... As with the piece he did for Alexis, there isn't a hint of pencil on this, he just drew with marker and brush on 11" x 14" watercolor paper.
