Description

This was the only page I wanted from the auction. I began to reconsider bidding for it because I didn't expect to win the Michael Turner Sketch of Superboy but I really wanted a page from the book, John Cassaday is one of my favorite artists, and I love this page mainly because it speaks something that we as humans desire: a sense of belonging and friendship. I loved the fact that the new Toymaster is Asian (I see myself as a kid there) and that he would go to great lengths just to have buddies like Superboy and Robin. Sam's story is energetic and fun and really shows how much Robin misses his best friend and how important friendship is...all of Sam's friends were there for him and you could feel it. Cassaday's style is so simple yet cinematic. I almost lost this auction and got some flack because i was bidding against one of the few female bidders. Its funny because I knew I had a magic number (my date of birth X 100) in mind for both auctions and I would go no further and She gave up right before that number. So, I got both auctions for exactly the same bid price....maybe it was meant to be...
