Master Darque, by Elim Mak

The Big Apple show in November had a mini-Valiant reunion. I used to read a lot of Valiant books in the early 1990s. They were really good, some of the best stuff being published at the time. One of the guests was Elim Mak, who I ended up chatting with for a while. While I was talking with her, she was working on a sketch of the villainous Master Darque. I asked Elim if it was a pain to remember how to draw all those tattoos on him, and she admitted that she just drew them differently each time. I commented that since the guy is a magician, that works out fine. Later on, towards the end of the show, I was passing by Elim's table again on the way out. I saw the finished drawing of Darque sitting on the table, looking really fantastic. I asked Elim who she had done it for, and she answered that it wasn't a commission, just something she drew for fun. So of course I had to offer to buy it from her. Great sketch, definitely brings back memories of some fun comic books.
