In the 1980s, Roy Thomas and Gene Colan enjoyed a brief stint on Wonder Woman that, though perhaps not regarded as the character's definitive run, does engender some real affection. Issues #291-#293 comprised a multi-verse spanning story arc featuring many of the DCU's major female characters--heroine, villainess, and civilian.

Here's a page from that story, where Black Canary returns to Earth-2 to tell the JSA (in the person of Power Girl and the Huntress) of the approaching cosmic danger. Note also, the visual iconography of the multiple worlds--such a part of DC's multiverse storytelling--that include Earth-1's Lois Lane, Wonder Woman, and Zatanna and Earth-3's Owlman and Superwoman.
