The Dark Knight

With all the hype about the new Batman movie the bat-bug bit me in the ass. For the past few weeks I've been pouring over my comics as well as buying the first two seasons of the Batman; not as deep as the original animated series but the animation itselvf kicks ass. This piece was done with photo reference (meaning me with a black leather jacket draped over my shoulders with a light overhead). The rest was purely original. My inspiration for this sketch was one of the promo posters for Batman Begins as well as a Scott McDaniel cover of Batman. The emphasis on cool and warm grey tones were to create that sense of noir that BTAS was known for as well as touch base with the era in which the character was created. I intend on doing a larger version of this piece so watch out for it. Anyone want to ink it be my guest. Etched on illustration board with graphic pencils pens and markers.
