Caption: "I think this war is affecting my husband's mind. Today he said -- Compared with the history-making events taking place, it isn't important how we dress this winter!"

I love Clark's use of brush combined with litho crayon on this piece. The couch is a beautiful example of this. The brush lines construct a brief armature for the couch, while the crayon stripes do the heavy lifting in building the weight of the form. Lovely figural work. 10/10/41

The figural layout of this panel is particularily attractive, with the women sitting in the foreground and the men standing in the back. Historically for the time period, a reversal of tradition. The movement from left to right is very fluid.
