Description

Until you see this one in black and white you won't realize how gorgeous and delicate a piece of art it is. This seems like a great place to say thank you to Paul Smith, one of the really nice guys in comics. We had a great night many years ago looking at Ditko Spidey art and Alex Raymond art. Much fun.

The Wolverine & Rogue cover is simpler and more iconic but 174 is my favorite cover of the run (I can't believe you have both). The former froze a moment in time from the book itself, but the more elegant image of Mastermind holding Scott and Madelyn in his palm played on the remaining emotions of the Dark Phoenix Saga while creating a feeling of dread for what was to come. Further, I think it played far more to Smith's strengths as an artist.
