Description

When I approached Mike Dooney about this commission, his first reaction was, "I don't usually do two-character sketches..." However, in testimony to Mike's unfailingly gracious nature, he consented to make an exception just this once. Even though he had never drawn either Spider-Woman before, Mike beautifully captured the different tone of each character: Jessica's aloof mystery, contrasted with Julia's warmer, more playful affect.

I couldn't have envisioned a better realization of the concept I gave Mike to play with. His linework is absolutely pristine; his sense of mood, perfect.

The image area is considerably larger than appears here -- the limitations of my dinky scanner. The artwork is penciled on 11" x 17" white Bristol board, with about three inches of headspace above the image.
