Description
Done in Toronto, August 2002 by award winning independent cartoonist Cherster Brown. Best known for his independent masterpieces "Ed the Happy Clown", "The Playboy", "I Never Liked You" and most recently "Louis Riel" (all available through Drawn and Quarterly Press) I had never seen any superhero drawings by Chester Brown. Thus, when I brought Chester a picture of the Canary I wasn't suprised when he at first turned me down. However, after thinking about it for a moment he quietly said he would give it a try. It has been said many times by people that have seen my collection that they don't like this piece very much. However, as a fan of Chester Brown's work, I see this as being a unique and special piece for the collection. Those who don't like it just don't understand Brown's style. I am so happy that Chester Brown took a moment to draw me this strange little Canary.

It doesn't matter what others think , it matters that you have a collection going and got someone you respected to do a drawing that they normally wouldn't do. that says alot for you and makes your collection more unique. so enjoy.

It's a fun piece. I got him to draw me a Kirby monster at a convention this year and he did a great job. He digs the superhero's!
