DescriptionDone in Toronto, August 2002. It wasn't the most pleasent of lines on the second day of the convention for Darwyn Cooke. A large unorganized mob of fans looking for sketches and signatures were rather demanding on Cooke. I remember a fight breaking out between a number of fans and being in the middle of it I actually stepped in to stop it. By the point that I got to Darwyn Cooke he looked rather tired and his sketches were getting really sloppy. I told him that I would just walk away and let him stop for the day if he'd do me a piece the next day. He said it was a deal. The next day I met with him bright and early and he drew me a silver age Catwoman. He was doing the Catwoman comic at the time and although he created Catwoman new dynamic look I still wanted the silver age version instead. The biggest bonus - he didn't charge me for it! Nice guy that Darwyn Cooke! In retrospect though, I wish I had got him to do a Black Canary for me because I doubt I'll get that kind of opportunity from him again.Social/Sharing |
