Description
Kyle Baker won a 1991 Harvey Award for Best Graphic Album of Original Work for his 1990 graphic novel Why I Hate Saturn, published by the DC Comics imprint Piranha Press. Its’ success would have only been anticipated by Baker, who had been trying to sell the story for years. He had written the story at a point in time when he was tired of comic books, tired of being told what to draw and certainly tired of not owning those things he was creating. He wanted to do things ‘his own way’…something he certainly accomplished with this story – which was the launching point for 8 more Eisner Awards and 4 more Harvey Awards through the late 1990’s and early 2000’s.

This page was a birthday gift from my wife early in my comic art collecting 'career'.

A wife who gets you this kind of gift sounds like a keeper to me

One of the best stories of the time - maybe the first comic accessible by anyone. A treasure.

Great page of closeups!  Baker is a magician when it comes to animating faces and this is his greatest book, IMHO.

Baker's clever dialogue at its best. Great page.

It's great to have a page from this mostly forgotten classic. It's one of my favorites!

A masterpiece and a great representative page. A shame how he glued these onto the board this way.
