Stormwatch/Despot Battle DPS Commission by Robert Jones (pencils)

This amazing piece is from Robert Jones, who was the inker on the original Stormwatch from the late teens to the 30's. (He inked Renato Arlem's run, and the Ron Lim 3 issue fill in.) The most important event during that run was the storyline with Despot (Battalion's father) destroying Stormwatch. When I decided to get a commission from Robert, I knew it had to be epic, and he delivered it in this fantastic Double-page Splash full of action! Proving once again that inkers are talented artists in their own right, he crafted this for me. This is the original pencils before he inks it.

There is a slight continuity issue with Diva being there all alive, well, & fighting, but I loved Diva and hated that they killed her off and made her an ugly undead puppet of Despot. Never seemed right to me. So she is still there in my version, regardless.

But the piece really captures the essence of that period of time in the book to me (and Diva had to be included:), and I love the dynamic flow of the left to right movement. All in all, a great piece and my first true commission. Not too bad, eh? :-)
