2008 Baltimore
Darwyn once again shows why he is the man...for several reasons. After an unsuccessful attempt at getting a second sketch at the 2007 Paradise show (I was on his list, but had to leave before he could get to it), I tried again at Baltimore. My wife waited in line and got me on the list in the #8 spot. I figured that would be good, but Darwyn was under the weather. On day 2 his wife came to the show and announced he was only doing around 4 sketches total, since he didn't feel well. I was dejected, but understood, and asked for my sketchbook back. She hadn't brought it, but told me Darwyn would be in around 12 to drop off the books. Darwyn did arrive, a little later than 12, and I went to grab my sketchbook. When I got it Darwyn mentioned to his wife that he did get to it! I thanked him and told him I had to go take out more money from the ATM, as I had spent my money. He said, "Don't worry, it isn't a full sketch, but I knew I had to give you something for all of the times I had seen that sketchbook." He called us even for the little bit of cash I had in my wallet, since he remembered not getting to me a year ago! What a class act, and a heartfelt gesture that meant a lot to me. Thanks again Darwyn!

Amazing sketch from Darwyn. Cap is someone I want to get from him, sometime in the future. Darwyn is a great man, with a great memory. Glad to see you finally got this one. All the best.
